Jim Oehler
Candidate for Douglas County Clerk and Recorder

I’ve called Colorado home my entire life, including more than 20 years in Douglas County. Like most county residents, I care deeply about this community, its future, and making sure local government works fairly and effectively for everyone.
I’m running for Douglas County Clerk and Recorder because I believe in something simple but essential: elections should be open, fair, and free from political influence. I’m committed to protecting the integrity of our elections while making sure every voter feels confident that their voice is heard.

I offer an alternative to those that have advanced their careers within the confines of county government. I bring more than 30 years of real-world experience solving problems, creating and supporting solutions, and helping people do their jobs better. I’ve spent my career listening to people, understanding what they need, and building practical solutions that make every day processes easier and more efficient.

Today, I’m working with the innovation team at the Albertsons Media Collective. We are launching and supporting a nation-wide in-store digital signage network that keeps customers informed about products and provides opportunities for them to save money. Throughout my career, I’ve collaborated with a wide range of organizations—from retail businesses to sports venues and media companies—managing complex systems, building strong teams, and delivering reliable results.

That experience shapes how I will approach public service: focus on what works, fix what doesn’t, and support and empower teams. Most of all, I will always put serving the people of Douglas County first.

As Clerk and Recorder, I will:
-
Protect secure, transparent, and professionally run elections
-
Keep politics out of the election process
-
Improve services so residents can access what they need quickly and easily
-
Ensure public records are accurate and accessible
-
Support professional, accountable teams dedicated to serving the community
I’m running against an experienced incumbent. However, a fresh perspective matters—especially at a time when public trust in elections is so important. I offer voters a different kind of leadership: one grounded in fairness, accountability, and a commitment to serve everyone in Douglas County. Above all, I’m running to ensure that Douglas County’s elections—and public services—remain strong, trusted, and built for the future.

I studied engineering and journalism at Colorado State University, earning a degree in Technical Journalism. I continued my engineering studies at the University of Colorado and currently serve on the advisory board for the Strategic Artificial Intelligence program at the University of Colorado (Colorado Springs).
